The spirit of eternal wandering
becomes the identity of a film festival on contemporary migrations.
KA was created to explore contemporary migrations through the languages of cinema and animation. The festival takes place between June and July 2018 in the Marche region, with Jesi and Senigallia as the host cities. The project establishes the visual identity and website for the festival, along with an educational workshop for the younger generations.

Identity project
KA is a name that comes from afar:
a myth shared by different cultures.
Name and trademark
KA is the spirit of eternal wandering: a mythical representation that in various African cultures symbolizes movement and the energy it generates across space and time. The name evokes the memory of the journey, from the long Paleolithic migrations to its hieroglyphic representation—two raised arms signaling supernatural energy, in a kind of protective embrace.

Plan
The festival expands into a program
that weaves together theaters, schools, and town squares.
Educational workshop
The educational workshop is aimed at young people—both second-generation immigrants and native residents—and their families, centered around the language of animated cinema: a selection of international short films curated by the scientific committee. Migrant associations (the Le Rondini Intercultural Center in Senigallia and ACADS), local authorities—public administrations and the civic museums of Palazzo Pianetti in Jesi—and local schools (the Federico II Comprehensive Institute of Jesi) activate 3 workshops, curated by the Mandala Association and the Ottomani Association.

The short films are analyzed using worksheets designed to foster cultural, emotional, and technical discussion among the young participants: a way to engage with the imaginations and sensibilities of younger generations. The project opens up to the city on June 12th in Piazza delle Monnighette in Jesi: a public event curated by the kids themselves, which kicks off the festival week and symbolically hands over the baton to the adults.
